How We Verify Shops and Write Our Guides
Shop listings
- Every shop is checked against at least one public source: the shop's own website, a manufacturer's dealer locator, or a state business registry. We record the source and the date we checked it on each listing.
- A city page appears in search engines only once at least 5 shops in that city have a name, full address, working phone number, website or hours, brands, services and a note on what sets them apart.
- A single shop listing appears in search engines once it has at least 6 of the details we track.
- We do not invent shops, and we do not publish star ratings or reviews. We have not collected any, and borrowed ratings go out of date.
- Shops can claim their listing or send a correction. Claimed listings are still checked before changes go live.
Troubleshooting guides
- Guides are built from manufacturer service information, engine maker specifications and the experience of repair shops we list. Sources are cited on each guide.
- Pages marked "being updated" are still being checked. They are hidden from search engines until then.
- Part numbers are examples to help you search. Always match parts to the model and spec numbers on your engine.
Affiliate links
Parts links go to Amazon search results. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. That never decides which cause or fix we recommend, and every guide says when a repair shop is the better choice.
